It’s a bit funny this wedding photography game. You don’t get much time with people but you get a sense of them, and sometimes just as it’s ending you realize you’re a bit attached. That’s a bit how I feel about Bec & Joel and their beautiful families. Bec & Joel didn’t have a bridal party because they treasure so many people in their lives, so they prepared on their day with their families. Bec’s whole family were there cheering her on including her Dad who was just watching and taking in every moment while her Mum was always there to help and lend a hand (she even made me a coffee about 10pm which was just so thoughtful). On Joel’s side there were lots of family members, all of whom were either parents or siblings and there with one clear intention – to love and support Joel.
Somersby Gardens Estate provided all of the backdrops, and once the ceremony was over guests were treated to lawn games, canapes and drinks while we explored the grounds for our shoot. Somersby Gardens pulled out all the stops letting us photograph one of their beautiful horses and later driving us to the infamous ledge for sunset. There were so many beautiful spots to photograph but my favorite shots were those where Bec & Joel were just lost looking at each other then suddenly burst out laughing, a sequence that happened frequently that day. As night fell guests were treated to a beautiful dinner, speeches and then an entire night on the dance floor. Soho DJs provided the tunes and everyone provided the moves – I braved the dance floor until my shoes stuck to the floor so hard I couldn’t keep them on anymore.
Bec & Joel, I can’t thank you enough for working so hard for these photos – I know it was cold and windy; you were such troopers. Even venturing out for some night shots when you just wanted to dance…thank you so much x
